Happy New Year's Eve!

Hello there. It's New Year's Eve and I'm very excited for the plans I have today. Soon, I'll be off to Hood River with my boyfriend for the scenic drive and some lunch. Then we're off to a friend's cabin to meet up with others and to bring in the New Year's in the best possible way. Hope everyone enjoyed their December!

One of the greatest pictures I've ever seen. Alfred Hitchcock, just catching some snowflakes.

Girly Heaven

New Year's Eve is just around the corner and yesterday I purchased a sparkly sequined gray jacket to celebrate in! It's the Sparkle and Fade Sequin Bomber Jacket from Urban Outfitters.

I'm in girly heaven

Saltine Chocolate Toffee Bars

I'm not sure of the correct name for these, but any variation of the words chocolate, toffee and saltines gets the idea across fine. My mom and I made these bars to accompany the christmas cookies on our sweets platter for Christmas Eve. They are my absolute favorite.

Ingredients
1 1/4 cup of butter, divided
35 to 40 Saltines
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

How To Make It
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Line a 15 x 10 pan with heavy duty foil
  • Melt 1/4 cup of the margarine in saucepan. Pour into prepared jelly pan.
  • Arrange crackers over butter, breaking crackers to fit empty spaces.
  • Melt remaining margarine in same saucepan; add brown sugar.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring occasionally, for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat; stir in sweetened condensed milk.
  • Pour over crackers.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until mixture is bubbly and slightly darkened. Remove from oven; cool for 1 minute.
  • Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let stand for 2 minutes or until morsels are shiny; spread evenly.
  • Refrigerate for about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. Remove foil; cut into pieces.
If you like nuts, sprinkle some crushed almonds on top of the chocolate while it's still melted!

Meadows

Man, I miss the mountain. A couple friends and I drove up to Mt. Hood Meadows last week and it was the first time I had skied in awhile. This right here's a photo I took of the sunset at the top of the ski lift that evening. That's my friend Julie in the bottom left!

Happy Christmas!

What a great day it was :)
Nails painted sparkly gold, wearing my blue angora sweater, bright red rainboots on, and a belly full of sugar and goose. Yep, I'm feelin' festive.

Sequins

Tonight my family hosted the Christmas Eve party at our new(ish) house. Already, I received some money and gift cards to Aritzia and Nordstrom! I cannot wait to scope out the mall after Christmas for a sequined sweater like this...

Merry Christmas Eve, all!

Crafty Is Cool

This photo just makes me laugh.

Conan O'Brien tweeted the above picture in October when a fan sent him a yarn version of tbs' orange "Conan" blimp. Visit the same fan's Etsy shop to look at her other crochet amigurumi patterns which have a pop culture twist!

My favorite pattern is her version of the Where the Wild Things Are characters...

I'm not sure whether I'd be able to make these as well myself, but they'd be super cute to have sitting on a shelf, wouldn't they?

Potato Champion

It's so good to be back in Portland during winter break. For the past month I had been craving Potato Champion's french fries, and the other night I was finally able to round up two other people to go there with me. My boyfriend, his sister, and I drove downtown to the Hawthorne food carts and split some salty fries after watching the christmas boat parade. I was first introduced to Potato Champion by my friend Heather after a Sufjan Stevens concert, and I definitely consider it one of Portland's treasures. They're best known for the paper cones their fries come in and the assortment of deliciously unique dipping sauces they make. The ones I tried recently were rosemary truffle ketchup, wasabi mayo, and satay sauce, yum. Best part is, most nights they're open til 3am, a perfect destination for late night downtown adventures.

Ikea Cats

Generally if you asked me, I'd tell you I'm a cat person. How can you not be one after seeing all those online videos that prove they are the funniest animals out there? The ad below only spreads the love for cats even further. A UK Ikea store lets loose 100 cats inside of it, and this is what they get...

01.

Well hello. Yes you guessed it, I have joined the blogging nation in order to share my experiences, inspirations, and wonderful finds with everyone and anyone. I'm so excited and I hope this blog develops into something truly sweet.

To start things off, here's a silly photograph of one of Portland's former acoustic singers as well as one of my favorites, Elliott Smith.

Gotcha.
